Dangote diesel, fuel to hit market this month — Aliko Dangote

In a significant stride for Nigeria’s energy sector, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has initiated the production of diesel and aviation fuel.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support, encouragement, and insightful guidance throughout the realization of this project.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts, Dangote extended thanks to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), along with the broader Nigerian community for their support and belief in this historic endeavour.

President Dangote specifically recognized President Tinubu’s visionary leadership, highlighting how his intervention at various stages cleared impediments and expedited the project’s actualization. He stated, “We have started the production of diesel and aviation fuel, and the products will be in the market within this month once we receive regulatory approvals.”

Celebrating this momentous achievement for Nigeria, Dangote emphasized the significance of this project as a game-changer for the country. He expressed fulfillment in reaching this milestone, emphasizing the nation’s capability to develop and deliver large-scale capital projects.

The refinery has received six million barrels of crude oil at its two Single Point Moorings (SPMs) located 25 kilometers offshore. The first crude delivery occurred on December 12, 2023, with the sixth cargo arriving on January 8, 2024.

With a capacity to load 2,900 trucks daily at its gantries, the refinery adheres to Euro V specifications. Its design aligns with international emission norms, employing advanced technology endorsed by the World Bank, US EPA, and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

Dangote expressed gratitude to bankers, financiers, the Lagos State government under Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, host communities, traditional leaders, and the refinery’s staff for their pivotal roles in overcoming challenges and ensuring the project’s success.
