The Dallas Cowboys have retained their top spot as the most valuable NFL team according to Forbes magazine, marking their 17th consecutive year at the pinnacle with a valuation of $9 billion.
Despite making the playoffs only five times in the past 13 seasons, Forbes calculates their revenue at $1.14 billion.
The New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and Chicago Bears round out the top five, with Jerry Jones, who acquired the Cowboys for $140 million in 1989, suggesting in May 2022 that the team could be worth “more than $10 billion.”
Forbes also notes that the average value of the NFL’s 32 teams has risen by 14 percent from the previous year to reach $5.1 billion, thanks to increased television revenue and the $6.05 billion sale of the Washington Commanders in July.
The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 23rd with a value of $4.3 billion, while the Cincinnati Bengals sit at the bottom of the list with a valuation of $3.5 billion.
