The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, CORBON, on Friday, scored Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, high for a well developed and comprehensive curricula for her Building Programme.
The CORBON team who were on accreditation visit to ESUT for the Building Programme acknowledged that their Curricula was the best they have seen in the course of their accreditation exercises.
The leader of the accreditation team, Professor Shehu Ahmadu Bustani said, “One of our major observations during this accreditation visit is that the curricula for Building Programme in ESUT is comprehensive. It is one of the best curricula we have seen in any university for the Builders. We commend the department and the university for that.”

Professor Ahmadu, equally commended the University library for keeping relevant and current textbooks and e-materials.
He however, urged the department to subscribe to indigenous textbooks and journals.
While commending the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, and his Management team for their support to the Building Department, he stated that there are improvements in human and material resources when compared to what were on ground in 2017.
While making his remarks, the Registrar of CORBON, Adeniran Adetunji, harped on the need for staff registration with the professional body to obtain their practice license.
In his response, ESUT Vice Chancellor, Professor Okolie, stated that the Management of the University is committed to advancing research and innovation in the Institution.
He also said that the University has signed a good number of Memoranda of Understanding with relevant institutions and industries to boost staff training and collaborations, adding that the University continues to sponsor staff for conferences and seminars in order to cross-fertilize academic ideas and research endeavours.
He challenged Builders to take up their responsibilities to the society in order to address the issues of frequent building collapses in the country.
While giving the vote of thanks, the Registrar of ESUT, Ambrose Ugwu, assured that the Management of the University would address issues identified by the team to guarantee effective running of the department.
He equally called on the Builders to acquire more academic qualifications instead of rushing to town to practice.
