According to reports on Monday, Chelsea have reached a British record transfer agreement of £115 million ($146 million, 133 million euros) for Moises Caicedo, the midfielder from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old Ecuadorian international was also pursued by Liverpool, who reportedly agreed to a record £110 million fee with Brighton on Friday.
However, Caicedo’s preference for a move to Chelsea became evident over the weekend, leading to an eight-year contract with the west London club.

Following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool in their Premier League opener on Sunday, they are optimistic that Caicedo will be ready for their upcoming match against West Ham United next weekend.
This potential addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s lineup comes alongside Enzo Fernandez, who earlier this year joined Chelsea from Benfica for a British record fee of £107 million.
Notably, Caicedo was absent from Brighton’s squad in their season-opening 4-1 victory against Luton Town on Saturday.
