A 42-year-old bus conductor, Musa Abdul, has been sentenced to one month imprisonment by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for stealing engine oil from a shop. The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos after Abdul pleaded guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Bokkos also offered Abdul an alternative of a N10,000 fine. The decision was made in order to deter potential offenders from engaging in similar criminal activities.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, the incident was reported on July 15 at the Laranto Police Station by the complainant, Samson Obodo. Abdul was apprehended while attempting to take cartons of engine oil from the shop.

The offence falls under the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code Law. The court’s ruling serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in theft and the commitment to upholding the rule of law.
