Brigadier General Olusola Diya, has taken over as the new Brigade Commander in charge of 14 Brigade Nigeria Army, Ohafia, Abia State.
He took over from Brig. Gen. Nsikak John Edet, who was posted to the Army headquarters Abuja after spending about six months at the brigade.
Until his redeployment to Abia, Brig. Gen. Diya was the Director Training, Department of Training, Army headquarters Abuja.

Speaking with newsmen after the formal handover from the outgoing Brigade Commander, Gen. Diya tasked soldiers and officers of the Brigade on dedication to duty and loyalty to the nation.
He urged them to key into the philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, which, according to him, centres on commitment and dedication to duty.
Brig. Gen. Diya also promised to sustain the COAS’s philosophy of “having a well trained, equipped and highly motivated soldiers ready to discharge their duties faithfully.”
The new Brigade Commander who promised to work in synergy with other security agencies, gave quit notice to criminals especially kidnappers, bandits and oil bunkerers, saying they will have it hot under his watch.
” We want Abia to be a model for other states to emulate. In few months, other states will be calling to ask us the strategy we used to get rid of kidnappers, oil bunckerers and other criminal elements”.
He solicited the cooperation of communities and residents of the state on information about suspicious characters, stressing that security operatives cannot achieve much without credible intelligence.

Addressing officers and soldiers of the Brigade earlier, the outgoing Commander, thanked them for their cooperation and support to him, and urged them to extend same cooperation to his successor.
He also charged them to continue to be disciplined and focused in the discharge of their duties.
Brig. Gen. Edet who said he had made remarkable achievements in enhancing the welfare of the personnel, identified the activities of non-state actors, bunckerers and baby factory operators as some of the challenges in the state.
He expressed confidence in the ability and capacity of the new Brigade Commander who he said, is well experienced, to contain the challenges.
Highlights of the event were the handover of the Army flag to the new Commander, as well as the lowering and hoisting of the Nigeria flag signifying a change of guard.
Meanwhile, some of the officers and soldiers almost got emotional as they chorused “we miss you sir” to the out-going Commander who they said, achieved so much especially concerning their welfare during his brief stay.
