While the court dismissed the money laundering charges, Bobrisky was found guilty of Naira Abuse after admitting to the offense during the trial.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Bobrisky to be remanded in EFCC detention in Lagos pending further legal proceedings.
The judgment, originally scheduled for April 9, was postponed due to the Eid-Fitri public holiday from April 9 to April 11. However, the court reconvened today to deliver its ruling, marking a significant development in the high-profile case.
Bobrisky’s conviction and subsequent sentencing have sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many expressing shock and disbelief at the outcome of the trial. The case has reignited debates about the enforcement of laws governing currency abuse and financial crimes in Nigeria.
