In a recent development, a Nigerian Army Special Court-martial, based in Abuja, has handed down a seven-year prison sentence to Maj. Gen. Umaru Mohammed, the former Group Managing Director of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL).
The court’s decision comes after Maj. Gen. Umaru Mohammed faced charges on 18 counts, including forgery, misappropriation of funds, and conspiracy, among others. Despite pleading not guilty to all allegations, the court found him guilty on 14 counts.
Additionally, the court ordered Maj. Gen. Umaru Mohammed to refund $2,178,900 and N1.65 billion to the Nigerian Army Properties and NAPL.
