The Igbo-Eze North Traditional Rulers Council, on Thursday, conferred a chieftaincy title on the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives candidate for Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, Dr. Oby Aji, for her laudable contributions in women political participation.
While conferring the title of ‘Oji Ugo Ana Awara Ndi Eze on Dr. Aji, at the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Secretariat, the Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, HRH, Igwe Gabriel Agbedo, said the title was to encourage other women to take active part in political participation.
Igwe Agbedo who was represented by HRH, Wilfred Ekere, of Ogrute also of the council area said “Dr. Oby Aji, was moulded in the character of men and she has been taking active part in our political participation. We are happy the way and manner she is contesting for political positions with men, that was why we considered her worthy of this traditional title in order to encourage other women to toe her footsteps.

“Our women should know that being a state governor or members of the National Assembly are not exclusive reserves of the menfolk. What she is doing is exemplary and we want other women to follow her footsteps,” the monarch said.
While making his remarks, the ex-representative of Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Simon Atigwe, said that Dr. Aji, was the first woman to be conferred with a traditional title by the royal fathers in the local government area.
He described her as an upright and hardworking woman who has distinguished herself in playing politics without rancour and acrimony, urging monarchs to look out for more outstanding sons and daughters of the local government for recognitions.
In his remarks, the former Chairman of APC in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, eulogized the Igbo-Eze North Traditional Rulers Council for recognizing the sterling qualities of Dr. Aji, and for encouraging her with the traditional title.
Also, while speaking, the Deputy Chairman of APC in Enugu State, Chief Augustine Alumona, expressed confidence on Dr. Aji, describing her as a thoroughbred politician.

The recipient, Dr. Aji, who said she was awed by the honour, pledged to use her position for the benefit of the members of the community and the state at large.
She thanked the royal fathers for their trust and support on her, adding that the title had spurred her for greater political exploits.
Recall that Dr. Aji, won an Appeal Court case against the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Dennis Agbo, mandating the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to re-conduct a fresh election in 166 polling units for Udenu/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency within 90 days from the date of rulling.
