The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reportedly arrived at the Presidential Villa after a contentious session in the Senate.
This session culminated in a motion to suspend the ongoing screening of Festus Keyamo, the ministerial nominee from Delta State.
The motion to suspend the screening was brought forward by Darlington Nwokocha, a senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, and was seconded by Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator from Abia-South Senatorial District.

Nwokocha accused Keyamo of showing disrespect to the 9th National Assembly and of making allegations of corruption against the previous administration.
He claimed that Keyamo was previously summoned to clarify matters related to a Special Public Works programme overseen by the National Directorate of Employment, which fell under Keyamo’s ministry at the time. However, Nwokocha stated that Keyamo failed to honour the invitation, prompting the motion to suspend the screening.
The heated session, which unfolded in the red chamber, led to this motion and the suspension of Festus Keyamo’s screening process. The move underscores the gravity of the allegations and the concerns raised by some senators regarding Keyamo’s conduct and actions.
As details continue to emerge, it remains to be seen how this suspension will impact the ministerial nominee’s screening process and the broader political dynamics within the Senate and the country.
