Comrade Paul Agu, a Principal Assistant Registrar, PAR, in the Senate Office of ESUT on Wednesday emerged the University Branch Chairman of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, ANUPA.
Out of 97 valid votes, Comrade Agu who is also the current Financial Secretary of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU, ESUT Branch, polled 63 votes to win his fellow contender, Victor Nwachukwu, Deputy Registrar, Establishment, who got 34 votes.
In a similar vein, Friday Ogbodo, secured 71 votes to emerge the Secretary of ESUT-ANUPA, while Theophilus Nnaemeka Nwobodo, who got 26 votes lost the contest.

Also, Chinasa Meniru polled 79 votes to defeat Comrade Michael Udeh with 18 votes to emerge the Treasurer of the Association.
Equally, Nneka Okey-Amadife (Vice President), Peace Onyishi (Assistant Secretary), Adaora Ishiwu (Financial Secretary), and Christian Uzodi (PRO) all emerged unopposed in the election which the National President of ANUPA, Dr. Victor Bem Mkuma, described as free, fair and credible.
In his post election interview with newsmen, the new Branch Chairman Agu, who took over from Comrade Dennis Uzoigwe, said his victory marked a new beginning for ANUPA-ESUT.
While calling for the support of members, he said that his focus would be on professionalism through training and re-training of administrators in ESUT.
He further called on all those that lost the election to join hands to move the Association forward, pledging to be transparent and accountable.
Earlier, the national executives of the Association, led by the President, Dr Victor Bem Mkuma, paid a courtesy call on ESUT Management where they appreciated the support of the Principal officers on the Association and equally presented other issues bothering the Association to the attention of the University Management.
Addressing the ANUPA national delegation which included the Legal Adviser, Barr. Isaac Ataben, and Secretary , Chijindu Ezeafulukwe, the Vice Chancellor ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie noted the importance of competent administrators in university management.
Although, Prof. Okolie said that training is necessary to upscale the skills of workers, he bemoaned paucity of funds and added that his administration would do the much it could within the limit of available resources to ensure that staff acquired requisite knowledge and skills for seamless running of the University.
While giving the vote of thanks, Uzoigwe, lauded the support of the University Management, adding that Professor Okolie’s administration promoted some of their members who were hitherto stagnated at their former ranks to Deputy Registrars.
Meanwhile, the ESUT Registrar, Chief Ambrose Ugwu, who addressed members of the Association after the election, urged them to always add value to the university system.
He thanked the national executives and the ESUT-ANUPA electoral committee members for conducting a rancour-free election in the University.
