In a shocking incident, Professor Godwin Emezue, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, DVC, of Abia State University, Uturu, was abducted by hoodlums on Friday in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to the statement by ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, the DVC and his wife were at a petrol station when the assailants, after confiscating the victim’s wife’s ATM card, forcibly took him into a Lexus SUV and fled the scene.
The Abia State Police Command assured the public that resources, including intelligence and technical aid, are being deployed to unravel the crime and safely rescue the victim. The statement urged Abians to remain calm, continue their legitimate activities, and stay vigilant while being security-conscious.
