ENUGU POLICE NAB FIREARM FABRICATOR, OTHERS IN SEPARATE OPERATIONS — RECOVER ARMS, DRUGS, EXHIBITS

… CP Giwa reiterates commitment to sustained crackdown on hardened criminals

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four male suspects in separate sting operations for crimes ranging from armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms to cultism and drug trafficking.

The operations, which also led to the recovery of two firearms and suspected “Loud” cannabis, underscore the proactive crime-fighting approach of the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc.

On May 9, 2025, operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad apprehended Ikechukwu Ugwele, alias “Angle 90,” aged 35. His arrest led to the seizure of a Beretta pistol and suspected high-grade marijuana. During interrogation, he confessed to multiple criminal acts and directed officers to the location of the firearm.

In a related development on May 8, 2025, the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested 25-year-old Emmanuel Eze, alias “Camara,” recovering a locally made pistol in the process. His arrest followed information obtained from two other suspects, Uchenna Nwudi, 29, alias “Asai,” and Eze Chiadikobi, 32. Nwudi admitted to fabricating firearms, while Chiadikobi was linked to transformer vandalism. The trio confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity.

All suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, during a press briefing on May 8, 2025, CP Giwa disclosed that 291 suspects had been arrested since he assumed office in March. These include 42 for armed robbery, 33 for kidnapping, 12 for murder, 6 for illegal possession of firearms, 5 for rape and defilement, 44 for cultism, and 149 for various other offenses. He also reported the rescue of 36 kidnapped victims, as well as the recovery of 44 firearms, 173 rounds of ammunition, and 20 vehicles used in criminal activities.
