Geometric Integrated Power Project Commissioned in Aba: A Milestone in Abia State’s Development

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, expressed immense pleasure and pride as he joined Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries to commission the Geometric Integrated Power Project (GIPP). This significant achievement in the power sector marks the culmination of 20 years of visionary leadership, hard work, and commitment by Prof. Barth Nnaji and the Geometric Power Aba Limited team.

The Geometric Integrated Power Project, a 141MW scalable to 188MW power generation and distribution facility, will provide reliable and quality electricity to nine local governments within the Aba ring-fenced island. Governor Alex Otti highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Federal Government, financial partners, Aba business community, and the people of Abia State in making this dream a reality.

Governor Otti expressed personal connections to the project, citing his support during his tenure at First Bank and subsequent financing as the Group Managing Director/CEO of Diamond Bank. He acknowledged the role of his predecessor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in granting initial waivers to Geometric, reducing transaction risks.

The Geometric Integrated Power Project is seen as a catalyst for economic and social transformation in Aba and Abia State. It is expected to enhance industrial efficiency, create employment opportunities, and improve living standards. Governor Otti urged prospective customers to pay their electricity bills promptly, emphasizing the importance of revenue generation and gas supply payment.
