3 arrested for snatching tricycle at gunpoint

Police operatives have arrested three armed youths for allegedly snatching a tricycle popularly called “Keke” from its owner at Agu-Awka in Anambra State, yesterday.

A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, said the armed gang was smashed following information received from Awka that the gang was fleeing towards Anaocha Local Government Area of the State .

Tochukwu said that Police who were on patrol with the local vigilantes laid an ambush for the suspects and got them apprehended.

According to the Police Spokesman, items recovered from the three-man gang robbers included; one baretta pistol, one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, 12 rounds of life and one expanded ammunition, and the stolen tricycle.

The names of the suspects were given as: Ebuka Madu, male, age 22 years from Umunze Anambra State; Chinedu Godwin male, age 23 years from Enugu State and 18-year-old male, Udegbunam Chikezie, from Neni Anambra State.”

Tochukwu further stated that the Commissioner of Police,  Aderemi Adeoye has assured members of the public of adequate protection of lives and property.

He said that the Commissioner  has directed that the suspects would be arraigned in court after thorough investigation.
