In a resounding declaration of achievements and unity, the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army showcased its triumphs and camaraderie during the Combined West African Social Activities (WASA) held at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division and Land Component Commander of the Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, unveiled the Division’s notable accomplishments throughout the preceding year. Abdussalam emphasized that these endeavors were in alignment with the directive philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja.
The GOC outlined the Division’s impactful interventions in the Niger Delta region, revealing the dismantling of 233 illegal refineries and the apprehension of 112 suspects involved in illicit activities. Moreover, the seizure of 72 trucks and vehicles linked to unlawful operations and the recovery of 356 arms and ammunition marked significant milestones in their operations.

“This concerted effort aims to foster a conducive environment for oil production in the Niger Delta, contributing to our national targets for 2024,” emphasized Major General Abdussalam. He assured residents and businesses of the Army’s commitment, working collaboratively with sister agencies to ensure a seamless oil production process.
